One of Fitoloğlu's rare seascapes: in the foreground a figure sailing on a black surfboard, two more sailboats in the distance, and light cumulus clouds above. The characteristic deep-blue of the Aegean softens into a pale blue-green sky at the top. The windsurfer's stance is upright and attentive — on the threshold of a moment about to move. One can see that the architect-trained artist sets up a compositional spine even in landscape: the sail mast defines the canvas's vertical axis, and the surfer's arm establishes the horizontal. This work carries traces of the artist's early oil painting practice — more direct, with less abstraction.
