Red is defined in Fitoloğlu's manifesto as 'sudden ruptures, excitements and surprises within life' — normally expected to be a small touch. But in this work red is placed at the centre; the entire ground is a fire. It is as if the artist wanted to break his own principle, to make the exception the rule: if there is a rupture somewhere within everything, what would a painting built entirely on rupture look like? Figures rise as black silhouettes from within the red; these come not from a horror film but from the manifesto's 'vibration' metaphor. The work carries one of the most powerful emotional moments in the collection.
