Fitoloğlu paints the crowd never as a homogeneous mass but as singularities brought side by side. Upper left: a red-coated figure in a dramatic pose; upper right: a huge smiling figure (a mask, or a face a child sees?); in the middle women in yellow and grey dresses. The work is 80 × 60 cm — one of the artist's largest formats — and the space the large format offers gives each member of the crowd a separate place. The painting is not an event but an atmosphere; you step inside, and the longer you look the more new faces you find.
