AHMET FITOLOĞLU
Vitruvian figure, 2025 — Ahmet Fitoloğlu, 2025, Acrylic on canvas

Fitoloğlu has produced a rare work that carries traces of his architectural training: a direct quotation of Leonardo da Vinci's Vitruvian Man, within a large red circle on a grey-purple ground. To the right of the central figure is a female figure (almost as if saluting Botticelli's Venus), and small portrait fragments surround it. The work is an expression of the artist's personal dialogue with art history: he takes the Renaissance mathematical ideal and translates it into his own expressionist language. The red circle represents Vitruvius's geometric system, but Fitoloğlu turns it into an icon or a heart. An important work bearing the self-examination of the architect-painter.
